Who remembers the George Clooney movie from the early 2000′s called ‘The Perfect Storm?’ For those who have not seen it, it is about a hurricane colliding with a cold front to cause the largest storm ever witnessed. Things coming together at the exact same time. That’s kind of how I feel right now. After a summer that was less busy than usual, the Fall seems like its going to kill me. Today, Bhangra Empire’s Fall session classes start in Newark. We also have our first practice for Boston Bhangra. This means that routines and music have to be ready for both by tonight. On top of that, I have started a new project at work, which means back to the long hours. In a week or so, school starts. The days of relaxing over the summer are over and now everything starts back up, full steam. Hopefully I get to keep up with the blogging.
On a side note, I came across a video on youtube from a bhangra group in Italy. Check them out.
The routine starts off with our intro from Elite 8 Bhangra 2010. It then cuts into a sequence from Jashan 2011. It then goes back to Elite 8 from 2010 even including the Michael Jackson segment. After that, there is a segment fromĀ Bruin Bhangra 2009, and then back to Elite 8 2010 once again. They almost do a vest drop, but then the video gets cut. All in all, a very entertaining routine (at least for me). They definitely did their Empire research. Maybe one day we will get to go to Italy and perform, but until then, I’m happy to see our choreography being spread worldwide.

Wow, they have a lot of nerve copying your choreography and music like that! They even have a “Michael Jackson”! Well, imitation is supposed to be the sincerest form of flattery
All the best for “Boston Bhangra”. The guys in the video gave me an idea how your routines might look if you don’t practice and perform properly or practice properly before you perform. The message from the video should be “How not to perform Bhangra Routines”. lolz. I srsly think how you watch ur own routines being performed so badly. lolz.
Its ok…everybody starts somewhere…I’m sure if they keep at it they’ll improve…
